One of our community partners, The Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF), held their first annual youth summit focusing on violence awareness. Our HAPI-YEP youth got to attend this wonderful event that focused on a violence free generation and got to meet other youth from Khmer Girls in Action (KGIA), Educated Men with Meaningful Messages (EM3), and Project Motivate.

The Healthy Asian Pacific Islander Youth Empowerment Program held a 3-week summer program. HAPI-YEP provided college 101 workshops for the first two weeks in support of the GEAR UP Summer Program. Students learned about different aspect of colleges such as healthy living, leadership, preparing themselves for their upcoming junior year and helping them start looking for the right college. HAPI-YEP followed with a 3-day summer program that focused on Arts & Leadership and creating a healthy culture. The students participated in activities that allowed them to learn about different cultural games, learning to self-advocate for themselves and also how to make Vietnamese spring rolls. The students were then rewarded with a field trip to Crystal Cove State Park where they learned about the wildlife living in the area.
